Brilliant Maths Tutors first began in 2009 as a progressive tutoring service focusing on the Maths and Science Fields for the Southern and Northern suburbs of Cape Town.
Founder, Amien Mohamed, had already been assisting students in his community to improve their understanding of maths and the sciences.
He saw the need in the community for someone to step forward and help ignite the younger generation’s passion for Maths.
He witnessed first-hand how many students view maths with anxiety after struggling to understand a specific concept in class.
It all began with only four students in a small classroom with only grades 10, 11 and 12 maths being taught. From there, the company rapidly took off to become a thriving haven of learning for struggling students.
Brilliant Maths Tutors got Registered as a Business in 2016. Currently, the lessons have expanded to cover maths from grades 1 – 12, maths Literacy for grades 11 and 12 and physical sciences for grades 10, 11 and 12. There are three learning packages available: group, one-on-one and online tuition.
All lessons align with the student's school syllabus and follow the CAPS & optional other curricula. By 2023, Brilliant Maths Tutors aims to increase their staff to four more tutors.
If you are falling behind at school or want to improve your results, you can contact us, Brilliant Maths Tutors - Your maths solutions partner of choice.
After you contact Brilliant Maths Tutors, we will organise an assessment in the comfort of your own house.
This assessment will cost R350 and is a crucial tool to determine the strengths and weaknesses of every prospective student.
With this, we can accurately pinpoint the gaps in knowledge points that will need extra attention and commonly made mistakes.
Since every student is different, this assessment also serves as a guideline to help tailor each student's lessons to their learning style and ability.
There are three tuition packages available:
1 on 1 Tutoring
Daily 7 days a week
Group Tutoring
On Saturdays 1:30pm to 2:30pm, Sunday 9am to 10am
Online Tutoring
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 7pm to 8pm

Many students struggle to do well in maths in school. Especially as the complex areas start to get introduced. Because new concepts tend to be based on previously learnt information, falling behind in one section can produce a knock-on effect. Once a student feels overwhelmed, it may seem like there is no point in trying to catch up. Instead of continuously failing, they give up and stop trying. Eventually, just thinking about Maths will lead to endless anxiety and stress. This is especially true if they feel under pressure to do well in school.
There are many possible reasons behind why your child is not getting good grades.
An incompatible teaching style that does not correspond to your child's learning abilities.
Another reason is that the pace of teaching in the classroom is too fast, therefore your child doesn't have enough time to understand each section before the next one is introduced. As mentioned above, once you fall behind, it is difficult to understand any new concepts since they are built upon the previous knowledge points.
If the class is too big, your child may not get enough attention as there is only so much time in the day for the teacher to help students.
If your child is on the quieter side, they may also be too shy to ask questions in front of others and let the teacher know that they are struggling to keep up.
All these factors can lead to your child losing confidence in themselves and their academic abilities. At the end of the day, it is up to us parents to ensure our children are getting the best chance to succeed and do well in school.
Extra maths tuitions are a fantastic way to help your child better their maths skills and invest in their future. The smaller groups and relaxed learning environment can help your child feel more confident. They will be able to bring up the points they did not comprehend in school. Since every child is different, they may need the solution explained to them in another way they understand. Not everyone learns the same, so it makes sense that not everyone can be taught in the same way. The lessons will proceed at the student's pace to ensure they fully understand each section. Extra tuition also provides more chances for students to practice problems until they understand them.
