How the tutor market works
You define the learner requirement. Brilliant secures tutor capacity.
Rates are not one fixed tariff across the network. Suitable tutors can have different thresholds based on subject, level, travel, area, schedule and their own availability. Brilliant takes the placement requirement to the appropriate tutor pool and confirms the accepted rate before enrolment.

Goal, grade, subject, support intensity, area, mode and times.

Only tutors who can actually service the requirement are relevant.
- 03Bid the placement
The rate rises or falls with the tutor supply needed for that specific requirement.

A suitable tutor accepts the placement at a confirmed rate.

The family approves the rate and the recurring lesson capacity is reserved.
Holiday programme questions
The programme is structured. The learner still gets a holiday.
One focused lesson is a small part of a full day. The point is continuity and deliberate practice, not recreating a six-hour school timetable during the break.
Why is the minimum one lesson per eligible holiday day?
The holiday programme is designed around continuity. A short, regular daily rhythm creates repeated opportunities to retrieve, repair and practise rather than compressing the entire break into one or two cram sessions.
Is holiday tutoring discounted?
No. The value is the programme structure, tutor capacity and continuity rather than a bulk discount. Brilliant already works from a relatively accessible hourly network floor, and the final rate is established through tutor placement.
Does the learner need to be struggling?
No. The planner supports recovery, continuity and performance. A strong learner can use the break to consolidate, improve recall, deepen understanding or push an already good result higher.
Do you guarantee a bursary, university place or specific mark?
No. Tutoring can strengthen academic foundations and preparation, but admissions, bursaries, scholarships and marks depend on many factors. The aim is to help the learner compete from a stronger academic position, not to promise an outcome Brilliant cannot control.
Why can two learners receive different hourly rates?
The tutor is the scarce supply side of the network. Rates can differ with tutor availability, subject level, learner support intensity, travel, area, requested times and the tutor's own rate threshold. The accepted rate is confirmed before enrolment.
What if my school follows different holiday dates?
Use the custom-date option in the planner. The preloaded windows use the national public-school calendar; independent and private schools can follow different calendars.
