Can the learner recall and use earlier methods without being shown first?
Holiday Maths Planner
Don't spend a year building maths momentum, then spend next term rebuilding it.
School holidays create rare breathing room: no new classwork arriving every day, more space to retrieve what was learned, repair old gaps and prepare the learner for what comes next.

Build your plan
Start with the reason, not the weakness.
Learning and remembering are different jobs.
School teaches new material. Holiday continuity gives the learner structured chances to retrieve, revisit and use important knowledge before the next term starts piling new work on top.
Protect the learningProtect what was built
You already invested in the learning. Don't let the holiday make it harder to retrieve.
A learner can spend months building methods, facts and confidence through school, homework and tutoring. When important material is not used for a while, it can become less immediately accessible. Holiday sessions create deliberate retrieval and practice opportunities so the learner returns with more of that work active.
The goal is not to redo the school year. It is to protect the value of the learning already paid for, identify what did not stick and strengthen the pieces the next term will depend on.
Hesitation and mistakes reveal what deserves another pass.
Go back to prerequisite gaps before new work makes them more expensive.
Mix older and newer work so knowledge is practised in more than one context.
Start the next term closer to active use instead of spending the first weeks reactivating everything.
One holiday. Three reasons.
Catch up if you're behind. Consolidate if you're coping. Push further if you're already strong.
Holiday tutoring is not a punishment for struggling learners. It is a structured use of low-pressure time for recovery, continuity or performance.
Repair the gaps while there is room to go backwards.
During term, new classwork keeps arriving. Holidays let the tutor stop, diagnose prerequisites and rebuild the missing steps without tomorrow's lesson immediately changing the target.
Keep hard-won maths active.
A learner doing fine still has something worth protecting. Retrieval, mixed practice and short daily continuity can reduce the amount of rusty reactivation needed when school restarts.
Good marks are not a reason to stop developing.
Strong learners can use the break to improve consistency, depth, recall and the weak areas separating a good result from their own realistic ceiling.
Build options, not promises
Passing is not always the same as competing.
Later, learners can compete for university places, selective programmes, bursaries, scholarships, internships and jobs. Academic results are never the only factor and tutoring cannot guarantee any of those outcomes. But stronger foundations and stronger marks can leave a learner with more options when those decisions arrive.
Don't use the school years only to survive the next test. Use them to build options.
Protect learning, repair gaps, strengthen recall.
Less time reactivating old work while new work arrives.
Recovery, maintenance or performance work compounds across terms.
Study and work choices change. Stronger foundations give the learner more ways to respond.

Full-year continuity
The holiday plan can sit inside a 12-month reserved tutoring rhythm.
For 2026 public schools, there are 43 school weeks and 74 eligible holiday programme days in this model. A regular weekly schedule plus daily holiday continuity creates a predictable annual learning rhythm rather than a string of walk-in lessons.
Illustrations below use the current R350–R650 working network range. Final monthly pricing depends on the tutor bid, actual reserved schedule and enrolment agreement.

How the tutor market works
You define the learner requirement. Brilliant secures tutor capacity.
Rates are not one fixed tariff across the network. Suitable tutors can have different thresholds based on subject, level, travel, area, schedule and their own availability. Brilliant takes the placement requirement to the appropriate tutor pool and confirms the accepted rate before enrolment.
- 01Build the learner brief
Goal, grade, subject, support intensity, area, mode and times.
- 02Find suitable capacity
Only tutors who can actually service the requirement are relevant.
- 03Bid the placement
The rate rises or falls with the tutor supply needed for that specific requirement.
- 04Secure acceptance
A suitable tutor accepts the placement at a confirmed rate.
- 05Approve and reserve
The family approves the rate and the recurring lesson capacity is reserved.
Holiday programme questions
The programme is structured. The learner still gets a holiday.
One focused lesson is a small part of a full day. The point is continuity and deliberate practice, not recreating a six-hour school timetable during the break.
Why is the minimum one lesson per eligible holiday day?
The holiday programme is designed around continuity. A short, regular daily rhythm creates repeated opportunities to retrieve, repair and practise rather than compressing the entire break into one or two cram sessions.
Is holiday tutoring discounted?
No. The value is the programme structure, tutor capacity and continuity rather than a bulk discount. Brilliant already works from a relatively accessible hourly network floor, and the final rate is established through tutor placement.
Does the learner need to be struggling?
No. The planner supports recovery, continuity and performance. A strong learner can use the break to consolidate, improve recall, deepen understanding or push an already good result higher.
Do you guarantee a bursary, university place or specific mark?
No. Tutoring can strengthen academic foundations and preparation, but admissions, bursaries, scholarships and marks depend on many factors. The aim is to help the learner compete from a stronger academic position, not to promise an outcome Brilliant cannot control.
Why can two learners receive different hourly rates?
The tutor is the scarce supply side of the network. Rates can differ with tutor availability, subject level, learner support intensity, travel, area, requested times and the tutor's own rate threshold. The accepted rate is confirmed before enrolment.
What if my school follows different holiday dates?
Use the custom-date option in the planner. The preloaded windows use the national public-school calendar; independent and private schools can follow different calendars.
The next term starts before the first day back.
Use the holiday to protect, repair or strengthen what comes next.
Build the learner requirement first. Brilliant Maths can then take that brief to the suitable tutor pool and secure a rate before you enrol.
